In 2022, five citizens of Khartoum, Sudan, a state employee, a tea seller, a resistance committee volunteer, and two street children, share their stories of daily survival and dreams before a film crew’s cameras. At the outbreak of civil unrest and clashes between the regular government army and paramilitary Rapid Support Force fighters, the five citizens and the film crew are forced to flee to neighboring countries. They do not give up on their project, however. With the use of animation, green screen reconstruction, and dream sequences, the filmmakers manage to continue their story of the conflict, practically ignored by Western media, and a cause of one of the world’s worst humanitarian situations: 60,000 deaths, 10 million displaced people, ongoing lack of food and supplies.
