...Moddhikhane Char

Directed by

The chars (river islands) between India and Bangladesh offer refuge for displaced families which lost their homes and left their villages that were destroyed by flooding. Like many other char-dwellers, Rubel and his wife and children lead a tenuous existence sustained by flourishing contraband of all sorts of goods, including rice, alcohol, and livestock. A self-sufficient and heterogeneous microcosm observed by Sourav Sarangi in a multiple-year study that examines the evolution of this community.
