In perpetuo

Directed by

A small pier made of wooden planks and beams, with long poles holding fishing nets, stands on a promontory of the Gargano coast. It is one of the once many fishing machines along the Adriatic. Within this timeless landscape, an old fisherman and a young man keep the fishing machine working. The ancient fishing method constitutes a microcosm in which their daily routine is dictated by the relationship between man and the sea, sometimes generous, sometimes stormy. Anchored to the rocks for centuries, the machines face an uncertain future: the challenge set by contemporary forces and by the need to maintain a rapport with nature.
