Orphaned at a very young age, Heidi is first raised by her maternal aunt and then left in the care of her elderly grandfather, who lives in a small village in the Swiss Alps. The young girl soon adapts to life in the mountains, which she spends immersed in nature, grazing goats with her friend Peter. Everything changes, however, when she is forced to follow her aunt into town to keep company with Klara, a noble wheelchair-bound scion, and to be taught by her own tutor. Faithful adaptation of the children's book written in 1880 by Johanna Spyri, already the basis of the very popular 1974 anime. With Bruno Ganz playing the grandfather of the little protagonist.
