Cinema e memoria del Territorio - Comunità Walser Valsesiane

Cinema e memoria del Territorio is a five-part film that describes Walser communities (Alagna, Riva Valdobbia, Rima, Carcoforo, Rimella) in different film styles and genres with the creative adaptation of archive footage filmed in the five villages and stored in the Superottimisti Archives, Turin. The educational project involved 50 students attending the Istituto D’Adda, Varallo Sesia; it depicts the history and the environmental changes of the communities. Over the school year, the students experimented with cinematographic language and techniques, starting from research and treatment to screenplay writing, filming and editing a finished audiovisual document. The project involved local agencies and associations in networking to promote the area via cinema, create intergenerational dialogue, and widen their cultural knowledge within a larger context.
