Arctic Spleen

Directed by

East Greenland holds the sad record of having the world's highest juvenile suicide rate: 2% of 15-to-25-year-olds die of suicide every year. The causes for this unusually high incidence are both ancient and modern. Its roots can be traced to the Inuit culture: until the 1970s, if a man was no long able to provide for his family, he walked away into the icy wasteland never to return; a more recent cause derives from Western lifestyle replacing customary Inuit lifestyle. Music by Massimo Zamboni, co-founder of CCCP.
