Zio Riz

Directed by

Zio Riz is the name of the canoe with which a man paddles down the Volturno River from its source at Rochetta al Volturno, a pristine natural paradise. Like riding with the ferryman Charon, we slowly pass from this protected oasis down to the mouth of the river at Castel Volturno and enter its urban chaos. The passage of the seasons is suggested by the rain, the melting snow, the flowing water, and the dry land parched by the midday sun. Along our journey we hear the calls of animals and the buzzing of insects, the rumble of farm machinery, and the noise of the city.
