Un paese ci vuole. Zavattini, Luzzara e il Po

In this rediscovery of the works of Cesare Zavattini, writer, dramatist, poet, and film director, the film takes us to Luzzara, his birthplace, located in the lowlands of Emilia, less than 1 km from the river Po. Accounts of the local townspeople bring to life the words and reevoke the ambience and the myths of the area since it was captured by American photographer Paul Strand in 1953. There is a mix of the poetic and the real: the need to rediscover the spirit of community – being and sharing together – and to report on an environmental emergency, the vagaries of the Po caused by global warming and drought. This is an invitation to protect the river against imminent disaster.
