The Last Honey Hunter

Directed by

In a remote part of Nepal the Kirat Kulung, an indigenous community, practice an ancient form of animism. During a dream the gods send a message to search for and find a rare type of honey with hallucinogenic power. Maule Dhan Rai, the last of the honey hunters, has taken on this task for the past 40 years. Lacking any sort of protection, he climbs mist-shrouded mountain trails to find the honey and collect it without being attacked by bees. In this nearly unimaginable undertaking, filmed for the first time by expert climbers, the magic of ancient rituals dissolves in the stunning beauty of the Nepalese jungle.
