Song from the Forest

Directed by

Mid-1980s, United States. Louis Sarno is thirty years old when, one winter night, he hears music on the radio that strikes him like no other. He discovers the musical culture of the Pygmies of Central Africa and, after buying a one-way ticket to Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, tracks down the Bayaka tribe with whom he has lived in the rainforest ever since. But when his thirteen-year-old son Samedi falls seriously ill, Sarno promises that if he recovers, he will take him back to his homeland. He is thus forced to return to New York, accompanying the boy on a journey to discover the metropolitan world of the West.
