Sakura

Directed by

Fukushima, March 2011. Monique Arnaud, a Nô dancer, is filmed by experimental filmmaker Alessandra Pescetta as she performs a sacred dance with her feet immersed in the radioactive water. Her voice invokes the fall of the cherry petals (sakura) for the spring festival of Hanami. But the petals rise, perhaps a portent of the gods. Only one beautiful sakura falls slowly and gracefully onto the water.
