Saaret

Directed by
An exploration of Helsinki as an archipelago composed of heat and energy islands, insulated atmospheres, and artificial climate that exude the past and the future. A hybrid narrative of stories connecting the city’s various neighborhoods that is both abstract yet embodies physical forms and perspectives in time. The use of Super8 suggests an ambivalence between a travelogue and a nature documentary in which the images appear as delicate packages of perception. A sensorial and cinematographic reflection on the interplay between humans, urban infrastructure, and nature.
