Poggioreale 41

Directed by

In just 6 minutes this film recalls the earthquake that struck the Valle del Belice, Sicily, still a living memory among those who lost everything in an instant. Then the drama of reconstruction, which in some cases was never undertaken. Using rare RAI archive footage, Gabriele Gismondi takes us to Poggioreale, a ghost town that was left to ruin. Through effective editing and a soundtrack comprising news commentary in the days after the event, we revisit a village where time stopped on 14 January 1968.
