My Name Is Salt

Directed by

The Little Rann of Kutch. Five thousand square kilometers of salt desert stretching across the northern Indian region of Gujarat, with nary a tree, a rock, or a patch of grass visible on the horizon. It is here that Chhanabhai migrates once a year with his family from his village, along with tens of thousands of others like him. Men and women who, like so many generations before and after them, are forced to extract salt for eight months of the year, from September to April. They live without water, electricity, or any other conveniences until, with the arrival of the monsoons, the sea invades the entire area, creating the whitest salt on the planet.
