While Europe stands on the brink of the tragedy of WWII, the Swiss photographer and traveler Ella Maillart and her friend leave Geneva by car headed for Afghanistan and India in what will become a legendary journey of exploration and spiritual search. Mallart documents the women’s adventure in film, notes, and photos. Following accurate research and restoration, this rare documentary material opens new perspectives. Through the voice of a courageous 20th century heroine, we gain a clear insight into mysterious lands ravaged by recent civil war.
