Ava Mocoi, the Twins

Directed by

Through scenes of everyday life and fascinating images this documentary tells the story of the indigenous Guaraní people, inhabitants of the village of Poha Renda, on the border between Brazil and Paraguay. Their peasant traditions, their cosmic spiritualism and their love for the land and nature are threatened by the extensive monocultures that surround the area and by the armed patrols in a nearby area. One day, however, during the Nhemongarai ritual, the village shaman receives a message from the creator god Nhanderu, which contains a good omen for the future.
