Casais de Folgosinho, Portugal. In what was once the realm of shepherds, 27-year-old Hermino seems to be the last of his kind. The old have died out, the young shun the prospect of rugged solitude on the Serra de Estrela highlands, far from modern comforts. Will Hermino be the last to tend the flocks? An interesting reportage about an outsider's existence, Ainda hà pastores? follows Hermino on his daily routine, the age-old chores and immense spans of silence, revealing his dreams and hopes.
«Filming other lives has always fascinated me. (...) I was interested in stories about people less related to my world. When I started looking for the last shepherds about 5 years ago, I wasn't sure of what I would find. It was volunteer work of discovery… like searching for something mysterious and unique».
