A Nord Est

Directed by

Before modern highways were built, old Route 11 (Padana Superiore [Upper Po Plain]) was northern Italy's main artery: 430 km from Turin through Milan to Venice. Milo Adami and Luca Scivoletto travel the final stretch from Mestre to Lake Garda on a journey into the province of Veneto, one of Italy's most heavily industrialized areas. Incorporating archive material and narratives of local inhabitants, they describe the contradictions of roadside life.
