L’ombra del fuoco - S’umbra ‘e su fogu

Directed by

In July 2021, in Sardinia, a terrible fire suddenly flares up, devastating the extensive Montiferru area in the Oristanese region: an entire ecosystem was destroyed, and centuries-old forests were reduced to ashes. The thousand-year-old olive tree in Sa Tanca Manna was damaged forever. After the disaster the economy was ruined: people wandered in the wasteland as if they were ghosts looking for traces of their lost memories. The trees will not return, everything is lost, yet the sound of the cicadas emerges from the desolation. A small film crew follows the season of forest fires, listens to the voice of locals, share their songs, their rituals, their pain, while gradually witnessing the miracle of nature being reborn.
