Helden in Tirol

Directed by

Helden is a small village in a remote valley in the Tyrol where nature is still untouched. The poacher Max loves poor Emma but does not stand in the way of her marriage to the mayor's rich son. In Helden, where pastor Johannes' sermons still enthuse the parishioners, where the oldest woman is no less than 300 years old and where the village idiot reads Proust, time seems to stand still. However, this perfect idyll is threatened by the mayor's plans to sacrifice this unspoilt place to tourism. Naturally, the hero Max feels compelled to oppose and protect his village from this project. No one is surprised that the beautiful Emma supports him. After defeating the mayor's plans and saving their village Max is rewarded with the most beautiful gift. He marries his beloved Emma.
