Ubiquity

Digital networks are becoming denser and will soon connect the entire world. While the advantages of such connectedness seem obvious, its effects on health - particularly on people suffering from electromagnetic hypersensitivity syndrome (EHS) – are largely unknown. Using her Bolex analogue camera, Van Der Haak follows three people “fleeing” connectivity and reveals the reverse side of advertisement for smartphones and intelligent devices. From Japan to the Netherlands and Sweden, we view the world through the eyes of EHS sufferers, their drastic choices, and unwanted isolation from modern society.
