The Toxic Burden

Directed by

More than a quarter of the European population suffers from it, causing colds and headaches every year with the arrival of spring, or being linked to certain foods, plants, or animals. Yet only a century ago, the concept of allergies did not exist and was the exclusive preserve of a very small segment of the wealthiest population. Driven by a desire to uncover the causes of this veritable boom, Patrizia Marani, an allergy sufferer herself, met with leading scientific experts in the field, suggesting how we have unwittingly become laboratory guinea pigs, forced to participate in a global experiment whose results are only now beginning to be seen.
