The Grab

Directed by

A new and invisible threat is on the horizon. A threat that is only mentioned within the dark confines of boardrooms or in intelligence briefings. Aware that by 2030 the demand for fresh water will exceed supply by 40 percent, the world superpowers are quietly getting hold of the last remaining water reserves and taking possession of farmland. Their goal is to prepare for future famines destined to trigger devastating conflicts, overthrow governments and drive the mass migration of hundreds of millions of people. The documentary follows the investigation into the new, emerging form of land grab and shows moments of tension, with dramatic twists and turns, just like the best thrillers. The investigation was led by journalist Nathan Halverson of the Center for Investigative Reporting, who is an Emmy Award winner.

Water

Pure from its source, uncontaminated and bottled in plastic, this essential element is both wasted and sought after like a treasure, too much or too little in a changing world.
