Wool recycling and regeneration into new yarns is an age-old practice in Prato. A forerunner of sustainability and circular economy, wool recycling has created wealth from discarded remnants. Rags are a never-ending resource and the starting point for a journey around the world to explore the impact consumerism has had on the planet and the consequences of fast fashion’s wear once then throw-away impulsive buying habits. Experts explain the problems fast fashion creates for the environment, which if approached responsibly by producers, consumers, and government, could provide an opportunity for opening a new scenario of economically sustainable fashion.
