Piero Gilardi

Directed by

The artistic and human experiences of Piero Gilardi are put on screen in this film, a passionate tribute to one of the most representative, and extraordinary, artists of the contemporary art worldwide. Now, a few months after his death, this tribute is even more precious. Sculptor of the Tappeti Natura (Nature-Carpets), founder of the Parco Arte Vivente in Turin, from the very beginning he placed the relationship between art, humans and nature at the heart of his artwork. He is here portrayed as a “master” because of his ability to transmit his own art with generous simplicity. In the 1980s, the director Segre had the idea of shooting a documentary on Gilardi. The project evolved as time went by and was finally completed in 2018, using the images of the parade on May 1st, where Gilardi directed his life-size foam-rubber “creatures” in political performances.
