Morire di lavoro

Directed by

Morire sul lavoro enquires into the construction business in Italy, the workers, and the family members of the victims of work-related deaths. The narration unfolds with the stories and testimonies of these people, filmed in close-up as they drive their cars. In addition, three actors, two Italian and one Senegalese, play the role of a worker who dies on a building site. Conversation centers around accidental deaths, pride in one's work, learning a trade, work safety and the lack of it, illegal work, and hiring practices.

Director's Notes

«As private individual, citizen and director, I believe we have to muster the strength to get back on course and go forward; this has been neglected for too long and has prevented workers and their families from working and living a decent life. I think it's time that we stop being ashamed and start doing something to ensure safe, legal working conditions because we should be able to go to work in the morning without fearing that we may not come back home in the evening».
