Lagunaria

Directed by

A city built on water, a unique world of hidden realities, and a mysterious narrative voice, which seems to come from the distant future. Inspired by Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities, it shows us the kaleidoscopic tale of the last few years experienced by the city of Venice. The fishermen’s struggle and desperation, the increasingly frequent floods, lockdown during the pandemic and the devastating impact of mass tourism: all these reveal the consequences of human activity on the natural ecosystem. The soul of this extraordinary city emerges among legends, rituals and gossip, together with its everyday life made up of boats, animals and vanishing islands. Venice becomes the perfect synthesis of the current contradictions and difficulties faced by the world's largest cities.
