La fabbrica della carne

Directed by

Over 800 million people suffer from famine. War, climate change, and disquality have all worsened food security, whereas meat production has increased by 45% over the past 20 years. How is meat produced and what is its impact? What is science doing to find alternate ways to produce meat? The film documents intensive farming in Italy, where animals are mere cogs in the wheels of food manufacturing in a consolidated and unsustainable production system, and then visits laboratories in Singapore where meat is cultured. The research into lab-grown meat has its pros and cons.
