Backlight: In-vitro Meat

Directed by

To satisfy our demand for meat, at least 50 billion animals are slaughtered every year. They come from farms that produce nearly a fifth of CO2 emissions. In-vitro meat, AKA clean or lab-grown meat, could save animal lives and the environment. The Backlight program, broadcast over the Dutch VPRO channel, investigates the food companies in Silicon Valley and how they are developing and refining the inventions of Willem van Eelen and Mark Post, pioneers in clean meat technologies.
