Into the Ice

Directed by

Despite years-long research, the rate at which Greenland glaciers are melting remains unknown. To answer this question, film director Lars Henrik Ostenfeld joins Alun Hubbard, Dorthe Dahl-Jensen, and Jason Box in their exploration of one the world’s largest glacial cavities at 180 m below the surface. The three glaciologists agree that the glacial strata provide a sort of thermometer for reading the rate of sea rise. What’s happening in Greenland may help us to understand what will happen in the rest of the world.
