In October 2021, the fisherwomen of Pulicat Lake, the largest brackish water lagoon in southern India, held a sumptuous banquet for local politicians and bureaucrats with the aim to dissuade them from constructing a harbor that would destroy the area’s rich biodiversity. Based on the event, the film tells the story of Mary, a shrimp catcher, worried about the expansion of the factory where her daughter, Josie, works. Weighing the risk of losing her work and seeing the lake destroyed by the industrial effluent from the factory, she devises a plan in the hope that nature will take its course.
