Vergiss Meyn Nicht

Directed by
For the past 10 years, environmentalists have occupied Hambach Forest, Germany, to stop deforestation and expansion of a lignite mine. In 2018, during a police action, which courts later declared illegal, Steffen Meyn, a cinema student who was filming the event, died in a fatal accident in which he fell from a tree. The film draws on footage he shot in two years using a 360 camera. Meyn seems to take an enthusiastic part in the battle and solidarity with the other activists, yet remains critical toward extreme protests. This personal account reveals the daily paradoxes and difficulties of a militant protestor, devotion to a cause, injuries suffered, idealism, and painful reality.
