«The Venetian Cultural Association, in collaboration with the Art Academy of Venice, announces the results of the first ever "Plastic Lion Competition" for the realization of brief e-works of animation with environmental themes. Entries were all created using programs that provide cinema, art and communications with access to the Web. Based on the theme of recycling, the competition was open to students from the Venice Art Academy's experimental course in New Technologies. Nine works (from 30 seconds to 2 minutes in length) by five students were chosen to participate.
Awards were given to the top three selections at ceremonies held at Venice's Lido on September 7, 2002. The VideoFlashAmbiente competition is part of the Plastic Lion Project-Audience Participation, designed to arouse greater audience involvement at film festivals. Along with the jury, on-line viewers and viewing audiences were also asked to cast their votes. Winners: Carlo Colonna, Angelo Feltrin, Alvise Arenghi».
