Toms River - Thirst for Truth

Directed by

Toms River, a small town on the Atlantic coast of New Jersey, is one of the most polluted places in America thanks to the illegal dump of chemical corporation Union Carbide and the toxic waste of Swiss multinational Ciba, which was set up in that area in the early '50s and closed down in 1996. In the early '80s researchers found out that the rate of cancer among children was higher by 30% than the American average rate. The documentary follows the battle fought in the past 2 years by some families struck by the disease. Documents and witnesses' reports raise disquieting questions on the Swiss chemical company.
