The White House Effect

Directed by

Archive material affords us a look back in the history of the climate crisis and the George H.W. Bush administration, when the chance to undertake concreate action against global warming was wasted and boycotted. The electoral campaign promise to address the greenhouse effect and adopt measures to mitigate the impact of climate change, which had been seen with increasing alarm, was ignored due to internal conflicts, political inertia, and pressure from the fossil fuel industry. The administration’s position changed radically and weakened the global agreements achieved at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
