For centuries the setting for folk tales and fables, the forest is a treasure trove of wildlife variety, of which the film illustrates some curious examples: a fox giving birth to cubs in her den; ants heating their anthill with their bodies; a bumblebee attacking a wild mouse's next; the beauty of spring-flowering plants.
