An encounter with the lobbies of the “material of a century”, big business interests, and environmental degrade in a market that promotes greenwashing fibs and throw-away packaging: an annual total of 396 million tons of plastic produced globally at a profit of €840 billion in Europe alone. From the Brussels institutions, where battles over regulations are fought, to the plastic-covered beach of Castel Volturno, Italy, images of plastic pollution taken by photographer Giovanni Izzo, who has devoted his life’s work to fighting environmental and social abuse.
