Ottana

Directed by

A group of horsemen riding through the Barbagia at dawn, the silence broken by the sound of the grass and the wind. Suddenly the Ottana industrial zone appears on the horizon, where the group may be heading. In just 10 minutes and with a single take, the Sardinian artist Pietro Mele counterpoises an apparently untouched landscape with a group of people tied to their customs against a smoke and poisonous fumes belching eco-monster that has aroused controversy since it went into operation in the 1960s. A thought-provoking film presented at numerous international festivals and winner of the Special Jury Prize in the Italian Shorts competitive category of the 2008 Torino Film Festival.
