Nero d'Italia

Directed by

Vincenzo Capogrosso lives in Viggiano, in the province of Potenza. On his land, he planted 170 olive trees, but today, just five hundred meters from his house, stands an Eni plant where oil is refined, and the oil once produced by humans is no longer wanted. This is a typical and very common story in Basilicata, the region that produces eighty percent of Italy's oil. Here, animals die without any apparent medical explanation, and toxic waste deposits are continually discovered on agricultural land, where pollution levels are extremely high, a fact of which the population often remains completely unaware.
