An eloquent and illuminating look at the disastrous effects of globalization in Jamaica, and the results of the economic policies foisted onto developing nations by the IMF, the World Bank and other organizations. For the past twenty-five years, in the name of “free market” Jamaicans have been struggling for their survival as conditions have become increasingly exploitative. Keeping in mind that the country celebrated its 40 years of independence from Great Britain on August 6 of this year, the film explores the true nature of Jamaica, well beyond its western reputation as a vacation paradise.
Music by Bob Marley, Ziggy Marley, Mutubaruka, and Peter Tosh mesmerizes viewers and reinforces the political message.
