La via del petrolio

Directed by
The film is in three parts (Le origini, Il viaggio, and Attraverso l'Europa) and follows the black gold route from Iran to Europe along a trail which mixes documentary and film. The first part, which is clearly documentary, concetrates on the source-land of the oil, and the magical existence of fire. It is interwoven with a reflection on film as a means of reproducting reality. The second part is more adventurous and deals with the tanker's journey to Genoa. It includes frequent literaly quotes and references. The last part has a South American journalist as narrator-protagonist. He's writing a diary and follows the trail of the pipeline using various means of transport.
