A Crude Awakening: The Oil Crash

Directed by

What is the connection between the U.S. military intervention in Iraq, Iran’s nuclear ambitions, nationalization of Russia’s natural gas reserves, and Hugo Chavez’s populist polities in Venezuela? The world’s oil reserves which, exploited intensively for the past century, will soon dry up unless an international accord is found, without which the very real risk of global economic collapse will ensue. Drawing on interviews with industrialists, politicians, economists, historians and activists, this account sounds the alarm about the impending crisis and what may be done to avert it.
