Bertolucci

biography

Son of poet Attilio, he was born in Parma in 1941. In 1952 the Bertolucci family moved to Rome and happened to go and live in the same building as Pasolini, who started young Bertolucci to a film making career. In 1962 he directed his first film La commare secca. His talent is confirmed by the following films Il conformista, 1970 based on a work by Moravia, Ultimo tango a Parigi, 1972, Novecento, 1975, and the multi-award winning film L'ultimo imperatore, 1987.
