The Po in flood offers a dramatic and evocative sight: the river overflows woods, roads, and villages, houses are isolated and it is only possible to get inside by the windows using ladders or wooden bridges. Household goods and furniture are piled up on the banks and people cook outdoors. By now people have become accustomed to this situation. But some men are worried. For them the flood is a real danger: they have to defend the bridge from logs carried by the water and they venture there on little boats.
