La Main de l'ours

Directed by

Three brothers live in the clearing of a distant forest. One day, the youngest is sent to gather firewood but is so afraid that he keeps his eyes shut. He then meets a bear who helps him. The next day, he goes out hunting but keeps his eyes open because he's no longer afraid. He meets the bear again but this time… This film is a fable about the man-animal relationship; simple in structure and technique, it carries a subtle yet bitter moral.

«La Main de l'ours is my graduation film. I wanted to tell a slightly sad story in a pleasant way that would be good for children».

Endangered by human actions, the diversity of species is crucial to the harmony of the interconnected ecosystems we inhabit: the implications of its loss and why this issue affects more than just those that go extinct.
