La falsa nota di Nyambé

Directed by

In the beginning there was nothing. Only boredom and Nyambé, the supreme god of the Bantu… To relieve the boredom around him, Nyambé starts to play a sanza and sings and dances joyfully. The first note creates the sun, then the moon and then the village and the continents… All goes well until he hits a false note: the birth of man, woman, and a throng of children: white, black, yellow, red, blue, violet, striped, spotted… And this is why the Bantu don't care about skin color because they know that all humans sprang forth from the same sanza.

«This was the students' first experience with animation. Under their teachers' guidance, the students tried their hand at directing and carrying through with the project. Each had the chance to put his/her talents to work on the film. The result of the course is this short film. The team developed their technical and creative skills for reaching the objective. But they also learned the importance of working together as a group, an essential component in producing a piece of animation through the collaborative effort of creative minds». (Working crew)

In-depth analysis

About the Movie La falsa nota di Nyambé

The project La falsa nota di Nyambè was carried out by the students of the master class in animation techniques at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) - Torino and coordinated by Enarmonia, Turin, a partner company working in national and international animation film productions. Master class course participants are young artists who have graduated from the Fine Arts Academy or the IED in illustration or are experienced in design. The end-of-course project was a short animation film commissioned by the association Kinkoba and based on the musical fable taken from Francio Bebey's La sansa africana, illustrated by Sara Ghirlanda and set to music by Taté Nsongan.
