La bicicletta e il Badile

On Friday, 4 July 1952, Hermann Buhl, internationally recognized alpine mountaineer, departed Innsbruck, biked 150 km up the Inn Valey to the base camp at the north-east rock face of Pizzo Badile. He solo climbed the Cassin route, descended, got back on his bike, and returned home, ready for work Monday morning. A well-known story told briefly in his autobiography entitled È buio sul ghiacciaio. During the summer of 2021, Maurizio Panseri and Marco Cardullo retrace Buhl’s adventure. Buhl had only his bike to take on his adventure; for us it could be a sustainable means of transport and sports.
