L'isola del sole nero

Directed by

Sardinia ranks first in area of contaminated land in Italy. The cause is the island’s huge oil refining industry, which began in the 1960s. Saras Raffinerie Sarde, founded in 1962, is the country’s number one oil refiner according to 2015 production figures. An industrial development policy that has produced a massive environmental footprint and a burden on the local communities but strongly pursued by the regional politicians.
