Io, Tevere - Le radici del mare
Directed by
A journey, seemingly light-hearted in tone, to rediscover the forgotten beauty of the Tiber, of its thousands of years of history and of its ecosystems. It exposes the heinous human interventions and the neglect by the community that has brought the river to its current disastrous condition. Marco Spinelli, documentary filmmaker, and Roberto D’Amico, Italian surfing champion and activist, are the protagonists. They navigate the river, observing and celebrating it, while collecting the testimonies and stories of the people who live with it every day. This documentary is a real act of love from the two of them, a testimony to the need for friendship and cooperation between humans and nature. The film formed part of the Tiber Project, an initiative aimed at raising awareness among institutions and citizens about the necessity for concrete actions to save this river.
