A documentary on garbage dumps is not in itself a denouncement. Silent concreteness is not enough. Instead, emotions must be sparked in order to generate awareness, create feeling for the subject. What it comes down to is a narrative style, and the result here is Candy e il suo favoloso destino. Candy is, if you didn't already know, a brand of washing machine. The documentary is part of the feature-length Sale, made up of 13 shorts, based on an idea by Edoardo Winspeare, of Saietta Film, which was promoted and funded by the Province of Lecce.
